HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The Rudder softball team went to Huntsville Tuesday night and was a half-inning shy of bringing home the win.
The Lady Rangers scored one run in the fourth and fifth innings and two in the top of the seventh, while the Lady Hornets had only scored one run in the bottom of the first, and scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
Meghan Carpio and Rebecca Delgado each had went 2 for 4 in the game with two singles. Delgado also knocked in an RBI. Ashlee Howard had the other hit for the Lady Rangers. Kailyn Garrett, Melanie Savala, Carpio, and Howard each crossed the plate, making up the four scored runs. The two teams combined for ten errors in the game.
Carli Holekamp pitched two innings for Rudder, giving up three hits, two runs, and recording two strikeouts. Rebecca Delgado pitched 4.1 innings giving up six hits, and allowing three earned-runs.
The Lady Rangers will play again on March 28th at home against Caney Creek. JV is set to start at 5 and Varsity at 7.
