The Lady Cougar Soccer team improved 2-0 in District and 9-3 in the season with a 4-0 victory over the Rudder Rangers on Friday.
The Cougars opened the scoring nineteen minutes into the match when Maddie Kothmann found Jaylen Hinckley, who then beat a Rudder defender before firing a shot to the far post. The Cougs entered the half up 1-0.
Just after the break, Lauren Spohn found Jaylen Hinckley with a 30 yard diagonal pass down the center of the field. Hinckley again fought off the Rudder defender before sliding the ball just out of the reach of the goalie. The Cougs struck for two goals in the last seven minutes of the match. Maddie Jenkins played a nice ball down right side that Kothmann ran on to before placing a great shot just over the goalie to the back post. For the fourth goal Cougar Steele Fancher took the ball down the left side and played a nice cross to Kothmann. Kothmann dropped the ball back to Sasha Poltoratski who scored on her first touch, low and to the near post. The Cougar defense limited Rudder to one shot, notching their 9th shutout on the year.
In JV action, CSHS dropped Rudder 9-0. Scoring for the Cougs were Megan Fowler, Emily Sellers (2), Shannon Gaines (2), Lauren Steines, Sabrina Burns, Paige Bielamowicz, and Arianna McNeese-Garcia.
Next game will be Tuesday at Sealy.
