BRYAN, Texas -- The Magnolia West Softball team came to Bryan to face Rudder Wednesday night.
Magnolia West started off the game scoring five runs in the first inning and four runs in the second, and never allowed Rudder to catch up. The Lady Rangers were led by Melanie Savala at the plate. The team had nine hits, six RBIs, and six runs scored. Savala went 2 for 4 with a single, a home run, three RBIs and scoring two runs herself.
Meghan Carpio and Rosemary Fazzino both went 2 for 4 at the dish with two singles and scoring twice. Carli Holekamp and Devon Garcia each had a single, and Rebecca Delgado knocked a double and had 3 RBIs.
Holekamp and Delgado split time in the circle for the Lady Rangers, lasting 3.2 innings and 3.1 innings respectively. Holekamp's Walks plus Hits per Inning Pitched, or WHIP, (adding the number of hits allowed and number of walks allowed, divided by innings pitched) was 3.55, Delgado's WHIP was 2.10, and Magnolia West pitcher Jacobs WHIP was only 0.67.
The Lady Rangers will play next at home on March 18th against Montgomery. JV will start play at 5 and Varsity will begin at 7.
