Bryan, TX With 23 points from Currie Byrd, Montgomery came back to beat Rudder 59 to 53 at the Armory on Friday.
The Rudder Rangers were up 15 to 7 at the end of the first quarter, but Byrd and Cooper Bell led the Montgomery offense to a 22-21 halftime lead. Bell had 15 points in the game.
It was a back and forth battle in the second half. Lutravious Hines led the Rangers with 14 points as they took back the lead, and fought to stay in it.
Tied at 49 at the end of regulation, Montgomery took control and beat Rudder by 6 in overtime.
Montgomery is back in action on Tuesday at Magnolia, and Rudder will take on Magnolia at home on Friday.
