Mumford Advances To State Title Game

AUSTIN, Texas The Mumford boys' basketball team beat Smyer 59-48 Thursday morning in the semi-finals of the Class A Division 1 State Tournament at the Erwin Center in Austin. The Mustangs will face Muenster in the state championship game Saturday morning at 8:30am at the Erwin Center.

Mumford had to fight back from a seven point halftime deficit to get past Smyer. LaKendric Hyson led the Mustangs with 25 points. Dion Mack added 15 points.

This is the third straight season Mumford has advanced to the state title game. The Mustangs lost to Dallas Triple A Academy last season. In 2012 Mumford lost to Clarksville,
