BRYAN, Texas Stormy weather denied a regular season showdown between A&M Consolidated and Lake Travis back in September and Saturday it looks like freezing temperatures will be a factor in the state quarterfinal showdown.
The Tigers (10-2) are coming off a 45-35 win over Longview last week propelling them to the Elite Eight, while Lake Travis (11-1) beat Dallas Jesuit 55-30.
Now nearly two and a half months and nine games later the Tigers and Cavaliers are schedule to play again and Tiger Head Coach David Raffield was asked if it's an advantage that the two teams didn't meet back in September.
"Probably," said Raffield. "We would have probably showed all of our cards and have to make more adjustments. We had a game plan that we were able to build off of so it was a little bit easier this time because we weren't able to run the other stuff."
The Tigers and Cavaliers will meet Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium in Temple.
The weather has changed the location for the Class 1A playoff between Bremond and Tenaha.
The game has been moved from Athens to Bowers Stadium in Huntsville on Friday.
Kickoff is set for 7 o'clock.
