Columbus Sweeps Bellville Denying Historic Win

7th ranked Columbus (25-8) swept 18th ranked Bellville (23-9) Tuesday at Brahma Gym 25-14, 25-15, & 25-18. The victory would have been legendary Brahmanettes Head Coach Susan Brewer's 900th career win, but Bellville will have to wait until Friday when they host Sealy for another shot at the milestone win for their head coach.

Honors continue to accumulate for Texas A&M freshman setter Stephanie Aiple, who today was named the espnW national volleyball player of the week for her performances in the Aggies’ back-to-back victories over then-No. 6 USC and then-No. 13 San Diego last week at the USC Classic in Los Angeles.

The gap separating the two SEC divisions shows no signs of narrowing. In fact, it might be wider than ever. The Southeastern Conference's Western Division has five members in the top 10: No. 3 Alabama, No. 5 Auburn, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 8 LSU and No. 10 Mississippi. All of those schools are ahead of No. 13 Georgia, the top-ranked East team.

Vols' Pearson to miss at least 1 more game

Tennessee coach Butch Jones says wide receiver Von Pearson won't play in the Volunteers' next game Sept. 27 at No. 13 Georgia as the junior-college transfer continues recovering from a high ankle sprain.
