LEXINGTON, Texas -- A young Lexington squad in 2013 will be an experienced one in 2014, as ten starters are back on offense and seven more return on defense.

The Eagles spread offense should only get better behind sophomore quarterback Nic Dillon and four returning offensive linemen. “Our offensive line will be the anchor of our team,” said Muhl. Lexington will also return Lechea Cooper in the backfield and receivers Andrew Lane, Ryan Garrison, Jacob Muhl, and Grant Piemann. Chase Allert and Berto Lara return on defense at linebacker after solid 2013 seasons. Austin Thomas is the only man back on the line, but a trio of players (Garrison, Muhl, and Piemann) return in the secondary.

The Eagles have a tough start to the season against 2013 playoff team Teague, a game they will play in Waco, and defending state champion Cameron Yoe. Franklin is the favorite in 12-3A Division II, but look for Lexington to compete with the Lions for the title and return to the postseason. “We expect to make the playoffs out of a good, competitive district,” said Muhl. “We have the experience needed to be successful on Friday nights.”
