BRYAN, Texas -- The Rudder High School boys' gymnastics team won the Ranger's first team state championship back in 2011 and this week will try to win the school and program's second.
The Rangers beat Round Rock for the Region II Championship two weeks ago and are headed to the State Meet hosted by Alvin High School on Thursday.
The undefeated Rangers are the team to beat this year and will try to complete a perfect run to State. At the regional tournament they beat Round Rock 86.2 to 80.8.
At the Regional Meet Head Coach J.T. Fletcher's Rangers did not have to count any falls for the first time all year and that success certainly gives his Rangers a lot of confidence headed into the biggest meet of the year.
"The boys are the only undefeated team in the state," said Fletcher. "I told them there job is to protect that. We have to go into the State Meet and repeat what we did at regionals." concluded Fletcher.
Rudder finished 5th a year ago and vowed on the way home that they would return in 2014 and win State.
