Late rally falls short in 64-56 loss to UCA

The Bearkats’ late rally fell short, as they lost 64-56 to Central Arkansas Thursday night at Johnson Coliseum. After trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half, the Sam Houston State women’s basketball fought back and cut the deficit to just six points in the closing seconds.

Blinn College men’s basketball had a battle on its hands for almost the entire game until the Buccaneers pulled away in the final three minutes for a 68-50 victory over Coastal Bend College Feb. 28 in Beeville.

Cierra Burdick scored 18 points and No. 6 Tennessee bounced back from its only SEC loss of the season to beat Georgia 70-59 on Thursday night, giving the Lady Bulldogs their longest losing streak in 38 years.

While the first weeks of the year are typically slow for most in Bryan-College Station as college students prepare to return to town and vacations come to an end, the sports staff for the Bryan-College Station Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCSCVB) along with the parks and recreation staff from College Station are starting out the year with a full head of steam.
