MILANO, Texas -- Milano has a ton of returning talent on both sides of the ball and should be right back in the race to reach the playoffs this season. The Eagles return nine starters on offense and eleven players who started a year ago on defense.
District defensive MVP Dominique Messer (133 tackles, 27 receptions for 735 yards and 12 touchdowns) will be hard to replace, but the Eagles feel they have the players to get the job done.
Jordan Millar, who led the team in rushing last season with 721 yards and nine touchdowns at running back a year ago, will make the move to quarterback. He will have the entire starting offensive line, led by all-district selection Chris Rowan, back to block for him and make his job easier.
The defense will be deep, experienced, and includes four returning all-district selections in Millar, Rowan, Alex Ferrara, and Makennan Hairston. The Eagles have a tough road to get back to postseason play, as they play three of their five district games on the road this season, including at defending district champion Burton and runner-up Bartlett.
With so many players back with experience, expect the Eagles to win at least one of those road games, be in the hunt for the district title, and make it back to the playoffs.
