NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees have reportedly offered Joe Girardi the job of replacing Joe Torre as manager. Girardi's agent,
Steve Mandell, has told ESPN.com that an offer has been made but
that discussions are ongoing.

New York radio station 1050 ESPN first reported the development
and said Girardi, the former manager of the Florida Marlins, is
expected to take the job.

Girardi played for the Yankees from 1996 to 1999 and served as
bench coach in 2005. He skippered the Marlins in 2006 and was named
National League manager of the year. He was fired after clashing
with owner Jeffrey Loria.
