IRVING -- Dallas quarterback Tony Romo's bruised right thumb is expected to be just fine when the Cowboys visit Carolina on Saturday.
But Romo will be taking snaps from a new center.

The Cowboys say Cory Procter will replace Andre Gurode, who
won't be traveling because of an injured left knee.

Safety Pat Watkins will be staying home because of an ankle
problem.

Romo continues to get ice and treatment for the injury sustained
in the second half of Sunday's loss to Philadelphia.

But Romo took part in all of practice today.

Coach Wade Phillips says things are progressing well with Romo,
saying the player is feeling better and better.

Another new option for playing time is fullback Zack Crockett,
who was claimed off waivers this week.

Crockett was let go by Tampa Bay, which used him in only one
game this season, his 14th.

Also:
-- Dallas had a free roster spot for a few days because safety
Roy Williams is suspended for one game, over a "horse collar"
tackle on Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb.

Safety Ken Hamlin today wore the number 31 jersey of Williams at
practice, but didn't want to talk about it.
