FORT WORTH, Tex. (AP) - It looked horrifying, but Michael
McDowell walked away just bruised at worst.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie had an awful wreck during
qualifying today at Texas Motor Speedway. McDowell's Toyota got
loose heading into the first turn and slammed head-on into the
SAFER barrier. The car bounced off the wall and onto its roof, then
rolled over eight times before coming to rest at the bottom of the
high-banked track.
McDowell got out of the smashed car and waved to the crowd. He
says he has a few bumps and bruises but nothing was broken.
Darryl Bruffett will have the latest on TMS qualifying on KBTX News 3 at 10.
