OMAHA, Neb. -- Rice's Danny Lehmann doubled in the go ahead
run in a six-run eighth inning as the Owls today beat Louisville
15-to-10 in the College World Series.
Louisville broke out to leads of 5-nothing and 10-to-4 before
Rice pitchers Scott Lonergan and Bobby Bramhall combined to hold
the Cardinals scoreless the last four innings.
Rice, with 14 players taken in last week's draft and wins in 35
of 37 games, arrived in Omaha, Nebraska, with some heavy baggage.
The Owls failed to score in its last 23 innings during the 2006
College World Series.
That streak ended at 25 and two-thirds innings when Lehmann
singled in Rice's four-run third inning.
Logan Johnson homered twice and Dominguez once for the
Cardinals.
The teams combined for 34 hits.
