HOUSTON -- Craig Biggio is the 27th major leaguer to reach three-thousand career hits with a single to center field in the seventh inning tonight.

The 41-year-old Biggio entered the season needing 70 hits to
reach the milestone. He's played his entire 20-year career with the
Astros, making him the longest tenured player in franchise history.
He is tied for 26th on the career hit list with Robert Clemente.
Biggio is the first player in two seasons to reach
three-thousand hits. Rafael Palmeiro was the last to do it on July
15th, 2005, with Baltimore.
