UTEP Players Arrested

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Police are investigating five current
Texas-El Paso football players and a former player for their roles
in a weekend brawl outside a bar.
El Paso police say the suspects were arrested early Sunday after
authorities were called to the bar in response to a fight.
All six men have been released from jail.
UTEP head coach Mike Price says he's monitoring the situation
and will take disciplinary action -- if necessary.
-- Seventeen-year-old freshman linebacker Isaiah Carter of
Converse and 17-year-old freshman defensive back Brandon Thigpen of
Moreno Valley, California, were charged with public intoxication.
-- Twenty-year-old sophomore defensive back Damon Cromartie of
Riverside, California, was charged with disorderly conduct.
-- Twenty-year-old sophomore wide receiver Tufick Shadrawy of
Arlington was charged with assault of a public servant, attempt to
take a weapon from a law officer, and interference with public
duties.
-- Twenty-year-old sophomore linebacker Brian Wilkins of Tustin,
California, is charged with assault of a public servant, resisting
arrest, and interference with public duties.
-- Twenty-two-year-old former junior linebacker Emeri Spence of
Garland was charged with interference with public duties and
resisting arrest. UTEP officials say he'd recently been dismissed
from the team.
