IRVING -- Former Cowboys Ron Springs and Everson Walls will take to the field at Texas Stadium at Dallas' home opener as honorary captains with a lot in common.
They played together for four years and since February, Walls
has shared a gift for life with Springs -- one of his kidneys.
The former teammates want to educate people about ways to
prevent chronic kidney disease and dispel myths about the living
donor process through their new Gift for Life Foundation.
Springs suffered from Type Two diabetes for 16 years and had
been on the transplant waiting list since 2004.
The transplant was the first between two former professional
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says the transplant was more important than any play either Cowboy made on the field.
