UNDATED (AP) - The last time a top-ranked opponent visited
Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska's Tom Osborne got his first
big victory.
That was in 1978, and the opponent was Oklahoma. The 17-14 win
was Osborne's first in six tries against the Sooners.
Saturday's game against No. 1 Southern California is an
opportunity for fourth-year Nebraska coach Bill Callahan to get a
breakthrough victory.
Nebraska and USC have combined for 16 national titles and eight
Heisman Trophy winners.
USC won 31-21 in its only previous visit to Lincoln, in 1969.
The Trojans come to town with wins in 60 of their last 66 games.
Callahan says it will take Nebraska's best effort to win.
