UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The 3rd-ranked Texas A&M soccer team will close out play in the Penn State Invitational at 12 p.m. on Sunday as it faces off against the 15th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions at Jeffrey Field.

The game is set to be televised on the Big Ten Network. Live stats and audio will also be available on AggieAthletics.com.

“Penn State is always a challenging opponent for us, especially on their home field,” A&M head coach G Guerrieri said. “They are one of the premier programs in all of college soccer and we have to play up to our potential for a full 90 minutes to get a positive result. This should be a very intense and exciting game.”

The Aggies enter Sunday’s match with a 4-1-0 mark, having knocked off its first ranked opponent of the season, No. 14 West Virginia on Friday. Behind the sensational performance of freshman Whitney Hooper, A&M posted two first half goals to earn the 2-1 victory. Hooper was credited with scoring the first of the Aggies’ two goals and earned an assist on the second.

Penn State moved to 3-2-0 with the 1-0 shutout of James Madison that same evening. Katie Schoepfer netted the game-winner for PSU in the game’s 56th minute, beating the James Madison keeper to a loose ball just inside the penalty area.

The Nittany Lions hold a 3-0-1 all-time advantage over the Aggies. In 2006 the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw in College Station.

The broadcast of the match will serve as the first Penn State Olympic sport to be televised by the Big Ten Network.
