IRVING, Texas (AP) - Anthony Spencer doesn't have a timetable for a return from microfracture surgery on his left knee. The Dallas defensive end isn't even saying he will play again.
The Cowboys aren't waiting on Spencer, either.
The 30-year-old signed his third straight one-year deal with Dallas after missing all but one game last year and having two knee surgeries about a month apart. But the first two contracts came with the pricey franchise tag, whereas the latest deal maxes out at a third of what he made in 2013.
Dallas surrendered a third-round pick to move up in the second round and take defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. The Cowboys drafted two other defensive linemen after signing three in free agency - not counting Spencer.
