MOSCOW, Russia -- Jeneba Tarmoh advanced to the final of the women’s 200 meters after racing in two rounds of action on Thursday at Luzhniki Stadium while Texas A&M sophomore Deon Lendore anchored the Trinidad & Tobago 4x400 relay into the finals.

Tarmoh, running in lane 8, placed third in the first semifinal heat with a mark of 22.70 seconds that claimed the top time qualifier for the final. She finished behind Murielle Ahoure (22.46) and Shaunae Miller (22.64), who secured the two automatic qualifying positions. Earlier in the day Tarmoh finished third in the first round heat with a 22.88.

In Friday’s final Tarmoh will be stationed in lane 2 with a pair of Americans – ChaRonda Williams (lane 3) and Allyson Felix (lane 4) – to her right. The event will start at 12:15 p.m. local time.

Lendore put the finishing touch on a 3:00.48 in the 4x400 relay as Trinidad placed second in the heat behind a 2:59.85 world-leading time for the United States. Trinidad and the United States traded the lead throughout the race.

Top two finishers in the other semifinal heats included Jamaica (3:00.41), Great Britain (3:00.50), Russia (3:01.81) and Australia (3:02.48). The time qualifiers came out of heat two won by the Americans with Belgium (3:00.81) and Brazil (3:01.09) moving on. Belgium’s relay unit consisted of three Borlee brothers.

In the 4x400 final, which will start at 12:30 p.m. local time, Trinidad will start from lane 3 with the United States in lane 5 while Jamaica is in lane 4.

Joining Lendore in the prelim race for Trinidad was Renny Quow, Jarrin Solomon and Latonde Gordon. Available for the final will likely be Jehue Gordon, who claimed a very close 400 hurdle final in a world-leading 47.69 over American Michael Tinsley (47.70).

The men’s 200 prelims in Friday’s morning session will have Curtis Mitchell running in the first heat from lane 2 where the top three finishers plus the next three fastest times move on to the semifinals held later in the day.

Also on tap for the morning session on Friday is the prelims of the women’s 4x400 where Jessica Beard is part of the United States relay pool. Beard has claimed a pair of gold medals from previous World Championship 4x400 relay efforts in 2009 and 2011.

In Wednesday’s long jump qualification round, Australian Fabrice Lapierre had three fouls and didn’t register a mark.
