The Twins scored two in the first and seven in the third inning off of Mathis, who was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three relief appearances before making his first start. Pence, Sampson Pace Astros To 4-2 Win

Updated: 05/20/2008 - Both starting pitchers Tuesday night had one bad inning. Fortunately for the Astros, Chris Sampson's bump in the road was less costly than Ryan Dempster's, and as a result, Houston prevailed, 4-2. Sampson yielded a two-run homer to Aramis Ramirez in the fourth frame, but Hunter Pence returned the favor in the bottom of the inning, and with more runners on base. Pence knocked his second career grand slam, which turned out to be the difference-maker in this win before 33,339 fans -- most of whom were cheering for the Astros -- at Minute Maid Park.
