Sequeena Thomas had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead Sam Houston to a 70-63 Southland Conference women's basketball road victory over Nicholls State Saturday.
Sequeena Thomas picked up her 1,000th career rebound early in the first half. Thomas then completed her 13th double-double this season.
Sam Houston took a 35-33 lead to the locker room after both teams shot better than 40% from the field.
The Bearkats had as much as an eight point lead and even trailed by two at one point. Nicholls got hot from three-point range by hitting 7-of-13, including three by Jenny Nash.
Nicholls State started strong in the second half and led the Bearkats 42-40 with 16 minutes left. The Kats retook the lead and never gave it back.
Britni Martin finished with 16 points and Sally Clavelle had 13. Jasmine Johnson had 11 points and Chanice Smith chipped in 10.
The Colonels were led by KK Babin with 17 points and five assists. Alisha Allen added 14 points and Jenny Nash had 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Bearkats will play next at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night.
