Shelby Hardy of Sam Houston State leads the individual medalist race after two rounds at the Southland Conference women’s golf championship at Frisco Lakes Golf Club in Frisco, Texas.
The senior from San Saba shot a one-under 71 in the second round Tuesday and now stands five-under with a 68-71—139 total for 36 holes.
Hardy’s first round 68 tied the Bearkat record for low round at the conference tournament. Hardy owns a two-stroke lead over A&M-Corpus Christi’s Vanessa Johnson.
Lina Lagergren of McNeese State (73-69—142) stands third in the individual standings and Malin Senneryd of Central Arkansas(72-73—145) is in fourth.
Sam Houston State is in fifth place with a 36-hole total of 600. The Bearkats are 13 strokes back of the leaders Central Arkansas. Oral Roberts (596) and A&M-Corpus (599) are in third and fourth respectively.
Trailing Sam Houston in sixth and seventh are McNeese State (602) and Stephen F. Austin (623).
Meghan Musk carded her lowest round of the season, a 72, and she is tied for 24th. Freshman Nicole Budnik is tied for 17th with a 76 in the first two rounds.
Jessica Borth and Jenna Stene are tied for 30th with a 159 after two rounds.
Sam Houston State will tee off for the third and final round at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.
