SHSU men will be No. 6 seed at Southland Tournament

Sam Houston State will be the No. 6 seed in the 2013 Southland Conference men's basketball tournament which gets underway Wednesday at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.

This year's tournament marks the 11th consecutive Southland post-season league appearance for the Bearkat men.

Sam Houston finished the regular season with a 15-16 overall mark and were 8-10 in Southland Conference action.

The first four games of the men's tournament will be streamed live for free on the Southland Conference Digital Network, including Southland.org and the league's iPhone and Android Apps. The semifinals and championship game of the men's tournament will be available solely on ESPN3.

Tickets to the tournament are available now on www.gobearkats.com/tickets and Monday at the Bowers Stadium SHSU athletic ticket office beginning at 8 a.m. This is the sixth consecutive year for the event to be played at the Leonard E. Merrell Center.

The complete women's tournament schedule:

Wednesday, March 13
Game 1: No. 8 McNeese State vs. No. 5 Nicholls State (SLCDN), 5 p.m.
Game 2: No. 7 Central Arkansas vs. No. 6 Sam Houston (SLCDN), 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 14
Game 3: Winner Game 1 vs. No. 4 Southeastern Louisiana (SLCDN), 5 p.m.
Game 4: Winner Game 2 vs. No. 3 Oral Roberts (SLCDN), 7:30 p.m.

Friday, March 15
Game 5: Winner Game 3 vs. No. 1 Stephen F. Austin (ESPN3), 5 p.m.
Game 6: Winner Game 4 vs. No. 2 Northwestern State (ESPN3), 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 16
Championship Game (ESPN3), 7:30 p.m.
