Hattiesburg, Miss - Catcher Ashley Isbell went 3-for-4 at the plate including a walk-off bases loaded single in the bottom of the eighth as the Sam Houston softball team defeated Jacksonville State 5-4.

The win was the Kats' second extra inning victory over JSU in as many days.

Tournament host Southern Mississippi run-ruled Sam Houston 10-1 in six innings in the Bearkats' second game Saturday in Hattiesburg.

In Saturday's opening contest, Sam Houston totaled 16 hits.

Catcher Hillary Adams gave Sam Houston a 2-0 lead with a home run in the bottom of the first. The blast scored first baseman Tori Benavidez who reached base on a single.

The Kats added another run in the second inning as Jessica Slater and Benavidez both singled and Slater scored on an error by the JSU left fielder.

Isbell's RBI single in the fourth inning scored Benavidez who had singled and stolen second base. The run gave Sam Houston a 4-1 lead but Jacksonville State came back to tie the game with one run in the top of the fifth and two in the sixth.

Sam Houston scored the game-winner in the eighth after four straight batters reached base. Alyssa Coggins and Benavidez had back-to-back singles and Adams walked before Isbell's game-winning hit.

Meme Quinn started and pitched five and one third innings. Amber Neal and Haley Baros each pitched in relief with Baros picking up the win.

Amy Pelton and Jessica Slater produced Sam Houston's only hits in Saturday's second game. Pelton's single scored Cecilia Castillo for SHSU's one run.
