Sam Houston totaled eight hits in the first game including a double by Benavidez. The Kats left eight runners stranded.
Michaela Granchelli gave Houston Baptist an early 1-0 lead in the second game with an RBI single to right field in the top of the third inning.
Third baseman Shelbi Tucker powered her sixth home run of the season just inside the left field foul pole in the bottom of the fourth to put the Bearkats back in control 3-1. The homer scored Coggins and Damian who led off the inning with singles.
The Huskies got a run back on an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning by first baseman Melissa Herman. With two outs, HBU had the bases loaded but left all three runners stranded. Coggins picked up an insurance run with a double in the bottom of the fifth to score Benavidez who singled.
