Blanco -- Led by junior Shelby Hardy who finished tied for sixth individually, the Sam Houston State University women's golf team placed fourth at the 2012 Southland Conference Championships.
The 54-hole, three-day was played on the par 72, 5,968-yard course at Vaaler Creek Golf Club. The final 18 hole round was completed Wednesday afternoon.
UTSA won the team championship as the Roadrunners chalked up a 290-306-300--896 total. Texas State was the runner-up, five strokes behind at 901. Lamar placed third with a 928 total.
Sam Houston and Central Arkansas tied for fourth, both with 932 totals. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was sixth at 949, followed by Stephen F. Austin 991 and McNeese State 1001.
Shannon Jungman of UTSA is the tournament individual medalist leader with a one-over par 70-73-74--143.
Fabiola Arriaga of UTSA (220) was the runner-up, Gabby de Reuck (222) and Krista Puisite (223) and Iman Nordin (225) of Texas State placed third, fourth and five.
Hardy tied for sixth place, leading Sam Houston State with a 77-74-75--226.
Other Sam Houston State scores and finishes were Meghan Musk 11th 76-78-78--232, Jessica Borth 18th 79-81-78--238, Jackie Smith 22nd 80-74-85--239 and Jenna Stene 32nd 83-83-82--248.
