HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Will Bond scored 20 points and hit six 3-pointers as Sam Houston State pulled away from Hillsdale Baptist 116-54 Monday night.
The Bearkats (2-0) exploded out to a 37-11 lead and held the Saints scoreless for over the next six minutes until the 2:08 mark, taking a 46-point lead at the break.
Hillsdale Baptist struggled from the field, shooting just 26.6 percent to Sam Houston State's 57.
The Bearkats were also 17 of 31 on 3-pointers, with Dakarai Henderson netting four and scoring a game-high 21 points.
Six Sam Houston State players scored in double figures and two Bearkats came just short of a double-double. Aurimas Majauskas finished with 19 points and nine rebounds while Michael Holyfield had nine points and 10 boards.
Hillsdale Baptist, a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, was led by Chris Williams with 11 points and Brandon Powell added 10 on 4-of-4 shooting.
