Sam Houston State Director of Athletics Bobby Williams released the following statement on Wednesday regarding the search for the University's new head football coach.
“The process for hiring a new head football is still on-going. We had four talented candidates in for interviews earlier this week. Feedback from all the members who have been involved in the process has been extremely positive. We are very lucky to have a strong group of candidates to continue the high levels of success this program has enjoyed during the last four seasons.
“We hope to have an announcement soon so the new coach can hit the ground running. With National Signing Day right around the corner we understand the importance of having someone in place.”
Sam Houston is looking to replace Willie Fritz who left the Bearkat program to become the head coach at Georgia Southern.
