Will Bond, a 6-3 guard from Trinity Valley Community College, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State University and play men’s basketball for head coach Jason Hooten.

Bond led Trinity Valley to a 21-11 record and a runner-up finish in NJCAA Region XIV competition. He averaged 10.1 points, shooting 43 percent from the field and 39 percent from three point range.

He ranked second in NJCAA Region XIV basketball in three-point baskets made and sixth in three point percentage. He was the second leading scorer on the TVCC team.

“Will is a winner from a terrific coach and program,” Hooten said. “He is another product from coach Pat Smith’s outstanding program at Trinity Valley. Will has proven to be a shot maker in a highly competitive conference.”

Bond played on a 26-5 state championship team at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Besides earning all-area honors in high school he also received all-academic selection as well.

“Coming into this recruiting season, we felt shooting was a big void that needed to be filled,” Hooten said. “Will has proven that he can make shots, especially from beyond the three-point line. He is a great young man who defines the term student-athlete.”
