Shelby Hardy and Meghan Musk from Sam Houston State both have been named to the five-player Academic All-Southland Conference women's golf honor squad for the 2011-12 school year.

The honor marks Hardy's second year to be selected to the Academic All-Southland squad and Musk's first season to earn the honor.

Hardy is a kinesiology major with a 3.21 GPA. A native of San Saba, Texas, she recorded eight top 10 scores on the year including medalist honors at the Butler Invitational and the Houston Baptist Invitational. She is only the fourth Bearkat women's golfer to win two individual titles in one season. A two-time first-team all-conference selection, Hardy ranked sixth in the league with a 75.71 stroke average, the fourth lowest single season average in Bearkat women's golf history.

Musk, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, finished the season with three top 10 finishes on the season, including a fourth place finish at the Butler Invitational. A health major with a 3.70 GPA, she recorded a 77.84 stroke average to earn honorable mention all-conference. Musk, who finished tied for 11th at the conference championship, completed the season with the ninth-best stroke average in Sam Houston women's golf history.

The Academic All-Southland team is voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors from each Southland Conference university. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
