COLLEGE STATION -- After two days of practice Texas A&M took Sunday off before returning to the Coolidge Grass Practice Fields Monday.

The Aggies will get back at it tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m. in another practice closed to the public.

However, those fans who can't stand the 25 day wait until kickoff against Louisiana Tech on August 30 will be able to see their Aggies Saturday, when the team will hold an open scrimmage at Kyle Field and after wards fan appreciation day at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

Head coach Sumlin says the team needs the time this week to prepare before the scrimmage Saturday. "That's a way for us to evaluate players in front of a crowd with coaches off the field. That'll be our first big scrimmage with all the new guys, and these guys will have the opportunity for, really, six practices this week leading up to the scrimmage Saturday. That's eight full practices. With meeting we ought to have a pretty good idea going into the scrimmage, the kids will have a pretty good idea of their assignments. What they're supposed to do, the tempo they're supposed to play at and then next Saturday we'd like to let them play a little bit so we can start to make some decisions about who's going to get on the bus and go to Shreveport."

The Aggies first day of full pads is Wednesday.
