FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas coach Bret Bielema says quarterback Brandon Allen has made significant progress in his first preseason camp as the starting quarterback.
The Razorbacks completed their first week of preseason camp with a pair of practices on Saturday. In the scrimmage portion of practice, Allen was 16-of-17 passing - with his lone incompletion coming on a drop by Julian Horton.
The sophomore, who won the starting job in the spring, also threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Javontee Herndon.
Allen is taking over at quarterback for the graduated Tyler Wilson, who had been the starter for two years and is now with the Oakland Raiders.
Arkansas opens its season on Aug. 31 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
