LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - McNeese State coach Matt Viator says he has met with Tyrann Mathieu, but the former LSU All-American has not decided whether he will transfer to the school.
McNeese State released a statement from its coach Saturday.
LSU kicked Mathieu off the team Friday for a violation of athletic department rules.
Viator says he received a call from the 20-year-old cornerback Friday. The coach met with Mathieu in Lake Charles for 90 minutes.
To McNeese State's knowledge, Mathieu has not made a decision on where he plans to resume his college career.
McNeese State is an FCS school that competes in the Southland Conference. Mathieu can play this season if he transfers down a level from FBS to FCS.
