OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze popped in the game tape from Saturday's 33-14 loss to No. 1 Alabama and saw exactly what he expected.

Terrific effort. Troublesome execution.

But Freeze was still encouraged that the Rebels' performance against the defending national champion is another sign Ole Miss (3-2, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) is headed in the right direction as it prepares to host Texas A&M (3-1, 1-1) on Saturday.

The Rebels still have problems to fix. While the defense has improved, the offense has regressed.

Freeze says there will be competition between Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti for the starting assignment against Texas A&M. Wallace threw two interceptions in the Alabama loss.

Texas A&M won its first SEC game on Saturday, crushing Arkansas 58-10 in College Station.
