CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State pitcher Ben Wetzler threw a complete game four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and Oregon State defeated Texas A&M 6-1 to win the NCAA Corvallis regional on Sunday.
Wetzler (8-1) gave up a run-scoring triple to Cole Lankford in the first inning then settled down and kept the Aggie hitters off balance the rest of the day, retiring 26 of the next 31 batters.
Danny Hayes drove in three runs on two hits for Oregon State (48-10). His two-out two-run double into the right field corner off of Aggies reliever Jason Jester gave the Beavers a 3-1 lead in the seventh and he added another with an RBI single in the ninth.
Texas A&M (34-29) was eliminated.
