BRYAN -- When Florida comes to Kyle Field on September 8 they will be led by a familiar face to Aggie football fans. Will Muschamp was the defensive coordinator at Texas from 2008 to 2010 before leaving Austin to become the head coach at Florida.

Last year the Gators were 7 and 6 in Muschamp's first season as the head coach. That has likely made for a long off season. The seven wins were the fewest for Florida since going 7 and 5 back in 2004. Gator linebacker Lerentee McCray says that has served as motivation. "The off-season has been humbling. We have been working hard, trying to get to that goal and that is to win more games. Seven and six has been our motivation all off-season." Linebacker Jonathan Bostic is not looking back, he says you have to look ahead. "You can't control everything. What we can control is going out and working on the things we need to get better at."

The Florida offense will have a new leader this season. Charlie Weiss left the the Gator program to become the head coach at Kansas. He was replaced by Brent Peases who left Boise State to join the Gators. Running back Mike Gillislee says the offense will be different with "a lot of shifting and downhill physical running."

A solid ground game should help Florida this season as they look to replace quarterback John Brantley who threw for over 2-thousand yards last season and 11 touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel are competing for the starting job and that seems to be a good thing for Muschamp "Both guys have got a tremendous skill set. They are really talented but they both also have the intangibles to positively effect everybody in our organization. Their competition has made each other better, it has made our offense better, it has made out football team better."

The Gators will open the 2012 season September 1 at home against Bowling Green. Then they go on the road for two straight SEC games against Texas A&M and Tennessee.
