FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Tyler Wilson's big night helped No. 10 Arkansas' offense overshadow a lackluster performance by its defense in a 49-24 win over Jacksonville State.
Wilson set a school record for yards passing in a season opener, throwing for 327 yards and three touchdowns. The senior's effort helped overcome a pair of first-half fumbles by the Razorbacks (1-0) as well as the loss of receiver Cobi Hamilton in the first quarter to a possible concussion.
The defense, however, allowed 193 first-half yards to the Gamecocks (0-1) - including 163 yards passing.
Led by safety Ross Rasner's 11 tackles, the defense settled down in the second half, but it has a long way to improve before a date with defending national champion Alabama in two weeks.
