COLLEGE STATION -- The Texas A&M men's basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the post-tournament ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll, the highest final ranking in school history.
The Aggies also were ranked No. 9 in the final Associated Press poll, which was released prior to the NCAA Tournament.
A&M's only previous appearances in the final coaches' poll (then conducted by United Press International) were at No. 18 in 1951, 1964 and 1980. A&M had never finished a season in the AP rankings.
The Aggies climbed as high as No. 6 in the rankings on four different
occasions this season. A&M appeared in the top 13 the entire season and was ranked in the top 10 in each of the final 11 polls.
