COLLEGE STATION, TX -- Sophomore Cassie Tysarczyk had an outstanding week from the plate and was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.
The right fielder hit .778 in the series win over No. 24 Texas Tech this week, going 7-for-9 from the plate with a double, a home run, six runs scored and eight RBI. Tysarczyk also drew three walks and reached base 10 times in 12 plate appearances for a .833 on base percentage. The left-handed hitter was perfect on the base paths, stealing two bags in as many attempts.
This is Tysarczyk’s second award this week and of her career, as she was named the College Sports Madness Big 12 Player of the Week yesterday. This is also the second Big 12 weekly award for the Aggies. Junior Mel Dumezich was named the conference Pitcher of the Week last week.
The No. 16 Aggies face No. 25 Baylor at home today at 6:30 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex. Listen live on Sports Radio 1150 AM or AggieAthletics.com.
