A&M’s Conner Named Academic All-American

Texas A&M swimmer Alyssa Conner was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Women’s At-Large second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Conner, a senior from Granite Bay, Calif., carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average as she pursues her bachelor’s degree in marketing. Conner finished her collegiate swimming career last spring but is slated to compete for a spot at the 2012 London Olympics at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Neb., on June 25 through July 2.

Conner was recently named the Bill Erwin Female Student-Athlete of the Year at the 2012 Texas A&M Athletics CHAMPS Banquet and she was also the NCAA Elite 88 Academic Award winner at 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Conner is a three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 Swimming and Diving Team and has received special recognition each year for her 4.0 GPA. Conner ranks among A&M's top 10 all-time performers in the 500 free, the 1,000 free, the 1,650 free and the 400 IM.

The Capital One Academic All-America® Women’s At-Large program includes the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
