COLLEGE STATION, TX -- After making national headlines by throwing the 11th no-hitter in Texas A&M baseball history on Saturday, senior Ross Stripling has been selected as one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week as well as Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.

The baseball rarity came on the day Stripling was scheduled to graduate from A&M with his degree in finance. The Southlake, Texas, native baffled the San Diego State hitters all afternoon during the 1-0 win, allowing only a fifth-inning walk while striking out seven during his 106-pitch outing.

It was the first no-hitter for a Texas A&M pitcher since Zach Jackson's seven-inning no-hitter against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 14, 2004, and the first nine-inning no-hitter since Matt Blank accomplished the rarity against Texas-Pan American on Feb. 6, 1996.

Stripling earns the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season and the fifth time in his career to tie Aaron Marsden (Nebraska, 2002-03) for the second-most career Pitcher of the Week honors in Big 12 history.

Additionally, the Saturday’s victory was the 30th for Stripling’s career which moved him into a tie for fourth place in all-time wins at Texas A&M with former Aggie pitching great Ryan Rupe (1994-98).

For the season, Stripling shares the Big 12 lead with nine wins on the mound as he maintains a 9-2 record with a 2.36 ERA and 97 strikeouts in a league-high 103.0 innings.

Stripling was joined in receiving weekly honors from the league by Kansas State’s Wade Hinkle (Player of the Week) and Oklahoma’s Steven Okert (Newcomer of the Week).
