COLLEGE STATION, Texas The Texas A&M football team hit the practice field Thursday night for their only practice of the day. The Aggies will have two practices on Friday before holding a scrimmage Saturday night at 6:00pm at Kyle Field.
Thursday marked the one year anniversary of when Texas A&M Head Coach Kevin Sumlin Announced that Johnny Manziel would be the Aggies starting quarterback. Manziel had a record setting season in 2012 that included being the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.
This season Manziel is one of six starters back on offense. The experience in the system should make the returners feel more comfortable and for Aggie Offensive Coordinator Clarence McKinney some of that experience comes at a key spot. "We have always said that year two for the quarterback is such a huge step because now instead of learning what to do he understands what to do and how to get us in the best play."
The Aggies will open the 2013 season August 31 against Rice at Kyle Field. Kick-off has been set for noon. The game will be televised on ESPN.
