IRVING, TX -- Texas A&M senior co-captain Colin Hoover was crowned the Big 12 Conference No. 3 singles champion the league office announced today.
Hoover (Victoria, Texas), known as a bulldog on the court with a never say die attitude, posted a 3-1 record in Big 12 competition at No. 3 singles in 2012. Last year, Hoover was part of the No. 3 doubles Big 12 championship duo along with Alberto Bautista (McAllen, Texas) who has been injured this spring and has not played. Hoover and Bautista posted a 4-2 league record in winning the crown in 2011.
The Aggies open defense of their Big 12 Championship trophy against Texas on Friday at 12 noon at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on the Texas A&M campus. The Aggies swept through the 2011 Big 12 Championships hosted by Baylor to win the title last spring.
