Aggie Soccer Closes Spring Season Saturday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Big 12 Champion Texas A&M soccer team ends the spring exhibition season Saturday with a 1 p.m. game vs. Southern Methodist (SMU) at Ellis Field.

The match between the Aggies and Mustangs is FREE to the public.

SMU finished the 2011 season with an 11-8-1 overall record and a 7-3-1 Conference USA mark. The Mustangs entered the C-USA Tournament as the No. 3 seed and fell to sixth-seeded Rice, 2-1. Kenzie Scovill led the team with 11 points this fall, netting five goals, including three game winners, and contributing an assist. Briana Gaines and Courtney Smith had 10 points each, with Smith leading the team with four assists. Courtney Webb spent 1750:57 in goal, grabbing 66 saves and allowing 20 goals for four shutouts on the season.

The No. 12 (NCAA Final) Aggies made their 17th straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011 after winning a 12th-and-final Big 12 title at the conference tournament. The team ended 2011 in the NCAA Second Round with a 16-6-2 record.
