GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Texas A&M men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will take on the Florida Gators in 3 p.m. (CT) dual match on Friday in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center of the University of Florida campus.
It will be a pair of top 25 matchups with the No. 4 Aggie women (3-0 overall, 1-0 vs. the Southeastern Conference) facing the No. 11 Gators (1-1, 1-1), and the No. 21 A&M men (0-2, 0-1) battling the top-ranked Gators (2-0, 2-0).
The A&M women are coming off a dominating win over SMU in Dallas last Friday when the Aggies won 12 of 14 possible races (no diving) on the way to a 153-103 win. Previously, the Aggies had notched dual meet wins over No. 10 North Carolina and South Carolina. Against the Ponies, the Aggies got multiple individual victories from junior Cammile Adams (200 butterfly, 200 IM, 500 free), junior Breeja Larson (100 and 200 breaststroke) and senior Tess Simpson (100 and 200 backstroke). Also tallying wins were junior Caroline McElhany (100 fly), redshirt sophomore Lili Ibanez ( 200 free), senior Maureen McLaine (1,000 free) and junior Erica Dittmer (50 free).
The Aggie men are coming off a runner-up finish in the annual Southwest Collegiate Plunge in Mansfield, Texas on Oct. 20-21. The Aggies were second behind Texas with SMU and Incarnate Word in third and fourth. Highlighting the meet for the Aggies was the strong diving of junior Hayden Jones who remained undefeated for the season with victories in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Also logging a victory was junior Omar Enriquez in the 200 butterfly.
