Aggies Finish Third at PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 13 Texas A&M women’s golf team earned a third-place finish Sunday at the PING/ASU Invitational at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

The Aggies carded an 873 (287-287-299), their lowest three-day score of the season, and only trailed No. 1 UCLA (857) and host and No. 5 Arizona State (869). TCU (879) finished fourth, while No. 3 USC and UC Davis (881) tied for fifth. The rest of the field included Texas (883), UNLV (884), No. 8 LSU (885), No. 19 Arizona (889), Stanford (890), No. 7 Vanderbilt (899), Oklahoma State (900), New Mexico and No. 23 Washington (906), San Diego State (915) and Oregon State (927).

A&M was led by Patricia Garcia who tied for seventh with a 2-over 215 (70-73-72). She was the top freshman finisher at the invitational and also turned in her lowest collegiate three-round score. Garcia’s 1-over 72 in the final round was also the best on the day by an Aggie.

Junior Sarah Beth Davis tied for 22nd with 220 (72-72-76) and junior Mary Michael Maggio tied for 26th with 222 (71-75-76). Sophomore Katerina Ruzickova followed with 223 (74-70-79) to finish tied for 32nd and sophomore Natalie Reeves tied for 66th with 229 (82-72-75).
