Five More Aggies Selected on Final Day of MLB Draft

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The total number of Aggies selected during the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft grew to eight on Wednesday as Jacob House, Mikey Reynolds, Matt Juengel, Kyle Martin and Rafael Pineda were all drafted.

House, a senior first baseman from Mansfield, Texas, was chosen in the 20th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks, while Reynolds, a junior infielder who hails from Glendale, Ariz., went four picks later in the round to the New York Yankees.

Juengel, a product of Houston’s Clear Brook High School, was taken as a third baseman in the 24th round by the Miami Marlins.

Martin, a junior right-handed reliever from Austin, was picked in the 35th round by the Chicago White Sox before Pineda, who made his Aggie debut in 2012 after overcoming arm injuries, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 40th round.

During the first two days of the draft, Texas A&M saw juniors Tyler Naquin and Michael Wacha go in the first round before senior Ross Stripling was taken in the fifth.
